Black and White Object is an outcome of Fabianczyk's residency in Berlin. She was interested in the way herself and other participants (half German half Polish) operated within the context of the residency.
The work is based on the interviews with participating artists and organizers. Fabianczyk used the original soundtrack of the interviews but replaced visual part with a video staging herself as an interviewee. It was to present the complexity of the residency, which existed in various forms, dependent on participants cultural, social and professional background.
Magda Fabianczyk is an artist living and working in London. She is a co-founder of TRANSIT, a project based on cultural exchange between India and UK, and recently completed a Govt. of India funded collaborative project with Bengali folk artists in Kolkata, India.
Her work is usually dependent on the unprogrammable and unplanned on-site relations, where site stands for a meeting point between culturally or socially distinct groups or individuals.
She is currently working with Niels Staats on The Adansei Project.
